Mid‑ceremony, however, metal scaffolding above the stage collapsed. To shield her young son Edmund, Octavia shoved him out of harm’s way and was fatally struck by the falling debris. She pours red wine directly over Vesper’s head in public, then solves a competition problem no other student in the school can crack with her extraordinary mathematical aptitude.
