Inside You Picked the Wrong Heiress

Eighteen-year-old scholarship student Sloane Reed lives interdependently with her cancer-stricken mother, Elaine. On the surface, she is the daughter of a fish market stall owner, but in reality, she is the never-acknowledged illegitimate daughter of Marcus Voss, the crime boss of Silverhaven. When her mother urgently needs money for treatment, Marcus suddenly acknowledges Sloane and demands that she complete a dangerous mission to seize “The Prize” as his direct blood relative. Knowing she is a discarded pawn, Sloane still enters the underworld to save her mother. At the private casino The Dominion, she sees through an ambush, cuts off Roman Drake’s hand as The Prize, and uses it to seize control of the casino’s management. She then faces The Thirteen Slashes alone, establishing her authority amid an attack by thirteen enforcers, and maneuvers among the three families: Voss, Hale, and Whitmore. She exploits debts, clubs, surveillance, car accidents, and infighting among heirs to create rifts, while cooperating with the police to gather criminal evidence. In the end, Sloane uses herself as bait to lure the two families into West Yard Chemical Depot, using Celeste Hale as the final “prize” to ignite a shootout and enable a police roundup. After the criminal forces are destroyed, she graduates as valedictorian and a Governor’s STEM Scholar, returning with her mother to an ordinary yet bright life.
